Day 4: Yellow Giveaway and Orange Winner

Hello, Sunshine! That's right, it's yellow giveaway day!

But first, the orange winner, thanks to the random number generator (who seems to be randomly liking higher numbers so far...I think it knows that my comment counting feature isn't working!):

B Greene, who said: "My favorite holiday tradition is travelling to be with the extended family - nothing like time together!"

Congrats Becky! I have sent you an email for your mailing address, and when all 12 days are done, I'll send out your orange fabrics.

Here is today's yellow bundle of scraps:

To enter to win it, simply leave a comment telling me the latest that you've ever finished a homemade holiday gift. The giveaway will remain open until 11:59 EST tonight (December 5th). I'll post the winner's name tomorrow, along with the light green bundle photo and question. This giveaway is now closed. Click here for today's light green giveaway.
Good luck!

p.s. If you're wondering what this is all about, read my original post here. And then stop by tomorrow for the light green giveaway!

  1. That was last year on Christmas Eve. At about 10 in the morning I decided to make my sister a reversable apron for our Christmas Eve gift opening. She loved it!

  2. I've somehow always managed to wrap up something at the last minute...theres always some last minute gift...usually something being "regifted"

  3. Hmm, I don't know if I've ever made homemade Christmas gifts. So I guess that would be this year (4 weeks before), although I may make a few more dice bags and a passport holder, so this number is likely to shrink significantly. On top of which, my sewing drive seems to be lessening the closer I get to Christmas. :(

  4. Hi Ellie, 1st off, I see you have trouble with your 'comments numbering'. I found this link http://helplogger.blogspot.com/2012/06/numbered-comments-on-threaded-comments.html that makes numbering your comments easy and it looks nice too. Hope this helps :-0

My entry: I'm the worst at planning gifts for Christmas, I usually end up doing it at the last minute. Have not made any homemade gifts yet, think I should start planning NOW for next year LOL

    2. Thanks Marelize! I will check it out. I've tried a couple different numbering tutorials that I found through google and could only get the #1 every single time, as you see. Would love to get it fixed!

  5. A couple of years ago I was running late and ended up finishing off some runners on Christmas Eve - never again!

  6. After Christmas! I don't remember the date, but we celebrated Christmas late that year (thankfully!).

  7. I always have lots of ideas and plans, but the only gifts I seem to get done on time are the small ones: crocheted snowflake ornaments, scarves, hats, etc. Although, one year I did manage to finish a fleece vest for my son.

  8. Two years ago I made a knitted throw for my sister-in-law & I was frantically weaving in the ends on Christmas morning before we went to their house that afternoon. Thanks for the giveaway.

  9. Last year on Christmas Eve, late afternoon, we were on our way to family, while my ever loving was driving I was hand sewing the binding on the table mats that I had finished quilting only that morning. Cue anxious indigestion.

  11. I don't really know! I don'tn think I've ever given a late gift before so I'd say they were all finished early.

  12. I tend to get done with a few days to spare, mostly because I travel for the holidays so if it's not done by the time I get in the car I can't get it done.

  13. Ten minutes before receipent arrived on Christmas day is the latest.

  14. Not really sure how late I finished a gift, but I'd love to win yellow fabic. Good yellows are hard to find.

  15. I usually have everything done a couple of days early. I don't like the stress. I have helped my niece with 4-H projects that she is still finishing on the way to judging day.

  18. Oh wow! That would be two days after Christmas and for my friend that owns the local quilt shop! How embarrassing! But she loved it and it was worth it! Thanks for being so generous.

  19. Does after Christmas count? :) Seriously, I think I've worked on something up until the day before Christmas Eve!

  20. Five years ago, I was still stitching well after midnight Christmas eve on a quilt for my oldest son! Yessiree, I did get it finished and I was very bleary eyed for Christmas day! What we won't do for our kids ;)

  23. Last year, I was knitting scarves for everyone and had one more to go as we drove the one-hour to my brother's house for our celebration. I thought I would easily finish on the trip, but made my husband drive around (... and around ... and around...) the block while I completed the last one. How is that for last minute :-)

  24. Prior to this year it has been about two days before Christmas. I have one more quilt to finish before Christmas this year and I just started it, and I work full time, and I decorate cakes and cookies. I see late late late nights in my very near future!

  25. Last year I made eight quilts for my family for Christmas. Of course, I decided to do this about ten days before Christmas. We open our gifts in the evening. I was shut in my sewing room quilting the last one about an hour before we were opening gifts. My girls had to do all the cooking because I was still piecing the top. It didn't even get wrapped, I just folded it and stuck a bow on it.

  26. Good question. I have been putting a final stitch into a project as others were opening gifts. Talk about late!!!

  27. I made a quilt for my motherinlaw and i finished it at 1am the day we flew to Chicago! lisaursino@msn.com

  28. I have made birthday presents that definitely got to their recipients much after their birthdays.

  29. Well... I'm still working on a quilt I promised my husband for his birthday last February - so I have 2 months to get it done before it is a YEAR LATE!!

  30. In my family, I am notorious for wrapping unfinished gifts which I then take back after they open the gift. I really can't remember how long some of them have taken but I'm sure they were finished BEFORE the next Christmas!!!!

  31. Do I have to? EEEK! I am really, really late on a quilt I started for my son's girlfriend, an undisclosed time ago. (They are now married!)

  32. I'm pretty sure the latest was Christmas Eve!

  33. Whatever isn't finished by December 23rd ends up as a gift for the following Christmas. No sewing for me on December 24 or 25. If I'm that close to the deadline, I always have a backup plan for a gift.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Fortunately I am bang-on time!!! But other things suffer for this to be possible (piles of laundry, dishes, dust!! hehehe)

    ReplyDelete
  35. I think that this year might be the latest for Christmas finishes just because I'm doing more hand made gifts than ever before.

  36. I make soap every year. A couple of years ago my husband and I were putting the labels on it in the driveway before going in. We always procastinate our Christmas presents.
