Purple Stitch and Flip Quilt Top

I've had blocks from one quilt taking up half of my design wall since October. Every couple of weeks, I'd find time to add a few more blocks and play with the layout.
(Note to self: Don't make quilts with 4" blocks--you have to make so many!)

I've been wanting to make a big push to get this finished and off my design wall (as well as off my UFO list!), and I finally have. Now it moves to the "needs to be quilted" list. :)

Which quilt is it, you ask?
My Stitch and Flip Improvisation quilt I started in Jacquie Gering's workshop in September.

It went from here:

to here:

to a month or so of this:

to sewn vertical rows:

to a finished quilt top!

Love these close-ups of the improvisational corners.

And individual "four-patches"

Can't wait to quilt this!

    1. Thanks! I'm excited about it too! (Also excited that it's a manageable size to machine quilt!)

  2. I wasn't too impressed with your first photo but after scrolling through the lot of them, this is one wonderful quilt top. I am quite interested in seeing how you quilt this. I would be overwhelmed and just stick it in the closet if it were me.

    1. :) Thanks! I am interested in seeing how I quilt it too. I'm thinking some sort of freeform zigzag-y line. The smallish size helps.

  3. I love your quilt. Of course, part of it is because you did a purple one, but it is a very interesting piece!
I need to make a quilt for my grandson who likes red and black. I'm thinking that this would be a good one to do with black blocks and various shades of reds in the corners, and maybe through in a few other bright colors just for that spark of interest. I'll be looking forward to how you quilt it. I have done much quilting, so I need some ideas.
