Lovely Year of Finishes August Goal

It's time for an August Lovely Year of Finishes goal. I'm working on reducing my pile of quilt tops, so my August goal is to get another one quilted on my home machine.

This one, from a Tula Pink pattern:

I currently have two thoughts on how to quilt it...the first is to do straight line quilting in a square spiral like I've drawn below (except with straighter lines...excuse my Photoshop skills, but you get the idea!).

The second is to quilt each quadrant differently, similar to Tula's original pattern, except using simpler, easier-to-execute designs. I'm a little concerned my version might be too busy for this type of quilting, though.

I'm open to opinions and other ideas. What do you think?

  1. I think you have some mad photoshop skills there! You certainly are way ahead of me!
I like your idea. I think the quilt and colors are really pretty, so you don't want to take away from it with too busy of quilting.

  2. I like the idea of straight-ish lines in the spiral square, it would really contrast in direction the blocks but mimic their shape.

  3. I would chose my fav quilting and put that in each quadrant. Like swirls in one, feathers in another, and also do an echo around the wording to make it really stand out:)

  4. I like your square spiral idea. But add in some lines in different direction to mix it up for variety, say up and down and / or side to side in each quadrant. Love all your color mixing. Looks great.

  5. Gorgeous quilt top! I love the organized scrappiness, and also I love how the letters pull the four sections together.
